Identity Verification

A quick one-time check, securely handled by Stripe.

1. Why do some rentals require it?

For high-value items like scooters, cameras, and premium equipment, we verify that renters are who they say they are. This protects the gear, keeps rental prices low for everyone, and prevents fraud.

Verification is required when your order contains a product marked with an "ID verification" tag on the product page, or when an order with a security deposit uses Instant Delivery or Self Pickup. Purchases never require verification.

2. How does it work?

We use Stripe Identity, the same verification technology used by companies worldwide. The whole process takes about a minute and happens right in your browser:

  • Take a photo of a government-issued ID (passport, or national ID card).
  • Take a quick selfie.
  • Stripe automatically checks that the document is authentic and that the selfie matches the photo on your ID.

Most verifications complete within a few minutes. You only need to verify once — the result is linked to your account and covers all future orders.

3. What happens with my data?

Your ID documents and selfie are captured and processed directly by Stripe — they are never stored on our servers. According to Stripe, verification data is encrypted in transit and at rest, and biometric checks are used solely to confirm that your selfie matches your ID document.

We only receive the outcome of the verification (verified or not) and the minimal details needed to fulfill your order. You can read more in Stripe's Privacy Policy and Stripe's Identity FAQ.

4. When do I verify?

If your order requires verification, you'll be prompted during checkout and in your order dashboard. Please complete it before your scheduled delivery so your order isn't delayed.
